If you’re spending Canada Day in Ottawa this July 1, here’s what you need to know about what’s open and what’s closed:
Rideau Centre and Tanger Outlets: Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Bayshore, Billings Bridge, Carlingwood, St. Laurent, and Place d’Orléans malls: closed
Grocery: Farm Boy (Rideau Centre) and Whole Foods (Lansdowne) open around 8–10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
LCBO: All locations closed;
Beer Stores: A few select stores open 11 a.m.–6 p.m., including on Bank, Baseline, Montreal, Somerset, Terry Fox, and Fallowfield
Canadian Museum of Nature, Agriculture & Food Museum, Science & Tech Museum, and Aviation & Space Museum: Open morning to late afternoon
Canadian War Museum & Canadian Museum of History: Open late into the evening
National Gallery: Open 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
Bytown Museum & Diefenbunker: Open 10 a.m.–3–4 p.m.
OC Transpo offers free rides all day, with extra buses and extended service on O‑Train Lines 1–4
Downtown roads (Wellington, Sparks, Queen, Bank, Booth, bridges) will be closed or restricted from early morning until late night
Public beaches (Mooney’s Bay, Britannia, Petrie Island): open with lifeguards noon–7 p.m.
Splash pads, wading pools, most outdoor pools: open
Most city offices, libraries, childcare centres: closed
Recreation centres & some pools: Open on modified holiday hours
Waste collection: Delayed by one day; regular collection resumes July 2
