Canada is facing a major winter onslaught as storms sweep across multiple provinces, bringing heavy snow, freezing rain, strong winds, and flooding risks.
In Atlantic Canada, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and parts of Newfoundland are under winter storm warnings. Snowfall is expected to reach 25–40 cm in some areas, accompanied by gusty winds reducing visibility. Coastal regions may see rain transitioning into heavy wet snow, making travel dangerous.
The Prairies are experiencing freezing rain in central Alberta and western Saskatchewan, while western Alberta faces repeated heavy snowfalls of up to 30 cm over two days. Roads and sidewalks are slippery, and authorities caution residents to stay alert.
In British Columbia, Metro Vancouver and surrounding areas are under rainfall warnings, with 50–70 mm expected. Flood advisories are in effect for rivers and streams, while inland northern regions face snowstorms with up to 30 cm of snow.
Ontario is not spared either, with snow squalls hitting areas near the Great Lakes. Some regions may see up to 40 cm, causing rapid deterioration of road conditions.
Across the country, authorities urge residents to limit travel, prepare for icy roads, and remain updated as Canada experiences one of the most intense winter weather periods this season.
