A tragic house fire in Brazeau County has claimed the lives of a baby and a toddler, according to authorities. The incident occurred on a rural property near the community of Breton, located about 100 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.

Emergency crews, including Royal Canadian Mounted Police, responded to the fire around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday after receiving reports of a blaze at a home on Township Road 482. When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a woman and two children had managed to escape safely from the burning house.

However, two other children — an infant and a toddler — were still inside the home. Fire crews worked to control the blaze, but officials said rescue efforts were not possible due to the intensity of the fire.

After the fire was extinguished, officers conducted an initial search of the property and found the baby deceased inside the house. The child’s body was later taken to the medical examiner’s office in Edmonton for further examination.

Search efforts continued as emergency responders worked to locate the missing toddler. Later, authorities confirmed that the toddler was also found dead within the home.

Officials stated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. At this stage, police have indicated that there is no evidence to suggest the fire was suspicious.

Emergency crews remained at the scene for several hours as part of the investigation and recovery process. The incident has deeply affected the local community, as authorities continue to gather more details about the cause of the fire.

Further updates are expected as investigators complete their examination of the site and determine what led to the tragic घटना.
