The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned the recent Israeli strike on Qatar, calling it a direct threat to the security of all Gulf states. The statement was made during an urgent debate at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, where the UAE expressed full solidarity with Qatar in the face of what it described as a dangerous escalation.

Jamal Jama Al Musharakh, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the UN, said the attack was a clear violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the sovereignty of a member state of both the Arab Gulf and the United Nations. He warned that such actions not only endanger Qatar but also put the entire Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region at risk.

A Violation of International Law

Al Musharakh stressed that the Israeli strike was a “flagrant violation” of international principles. He said targeting Qatar’s capital was a serious breach of human rights and global rules designed to protect the sovereignty and safety of nations.

“This strike represents a grave escalation that threatens regional peace and stability,” he told the Human Rights Council. He explained that any attack on a GCC member state should be viewed as an attack on all, since Gulf nations share a collective security framework.

Support and Solidarity with Qatar

The UAE diplomat also expressed sorrow over the death of a Qatari security officer in the incident. He conveyed condolences on behalf of the UAE leadership and people, while reaffirming his country’s “complete support” for Qatar as it faces the aftermath of the strike.

Al Musharakh explained that Gulf countries must remain united in confronting threats to their sovereignty. He noted that the safety of Qatar is directly tied to the safety of the entire GCC region, making solidarity essential in times of crisis.

Warning Against Escalation

The UAE also warned against the dangers of further escalation in the region. Al Musharakh said that inflammatory rhetoric and hate speech only worsen tensions and increase instability. He stressed the urgent need to respect the principles of the UN Charter and to focus on dialogue rather than aggression.

“The region cannot afford further instability,” he said, highlighting the dangers of provocative actions that could push the Middle East into a deeper conflict.

Backing from GCC and OIC

The emergency debate was called at the request of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Both groups have been vocal in their condemnation of the attack and have urged the international community to take strong measures to prevent further violations.

For the GCC, which was founded on the principle of collective defense, the Israeli strike represents more than an attack on one nation. It is a challenge to the shared security of the Gulf, where unity is seen as the strongest defense against external threats.

A Call for Stability

In conclusion, the UAE’s message was clear: Gulf nations must remain united, and the international community must act to prevent further violations of sovereignty. The attack on Qatar is seen not only as a national tragedy but as a warning sign for the entire region.

Al Musharakh’s statement reflects the UAE’s broader foreign policy stance — emphasizing respect for international law, support for regional allies, and a strong rejection of actions that destabilize the Middle East.

As tensions rise, Gulf nations are preparing to work more closely together to safeguard their security and protect their people, with the UAE making it clear that it will stand firmly alongside Qatar in this critical moment.
