Thailand's Vision for Year-Round Tourism amid PM2.5 Challenges

Deputy Prime Minister Supajee Suthamphan has unveiled Thailand's ambitious plan for a “365 Days of Amazing Thailand” tourism initiative, aiming to promote travel opportunities year-round while also tackling the pressing issue of PM2.5 air pollution.

During a parliamentary session, she made it clear that this initiative does not mean that all destinations will be open every day regardless of weather conditions. Instead, it aims to showcase the wide range of seasonal attractions available throughout different regions of the country.

The goal of this initiative is to optimize Thailand's tourism potential by spreading the tourist flow across various areas and periods. This method is anticipated to create a more stable income for local communities and ensure the tourism sector remains sustainable.

Simultaneously, Supajee highlighted the ongoing challenge of PM2.5 air pollution, which poses serious health risks. She emphasized the importance of addressing environmental issues concurrently with economic growth.

To combat the sources of pollution, the government is implementing various measures, including restrictions on open burning and enhancing air quality monitoring systems. These initiatives aim to achieve both immediate results and long-lasting improvements.

Supajee reminded us that tourism development must coincide with environmental stewardship, asserting that economic progress should not undermine the quality of life for citizens.

The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring a balance between tourism growth and environmental care, promoting sustainable development while protecting public health across Thailand.
