Thailand Enhances Military Pharmaceutical Capabilities

Thailand’s Ministry of Defence is committed to enhancing the nation’s defence industry along with its healthcare framework through expanding local pharmaceutical production. On May 8, 2026, General Tharaphong Malakham, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, inspected the Military Pharmaceutical Factory, accompanied by General Sarun Petranon, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, and other high-ranking officials. This visit underscored the government’s dedication to strengthening national security, readiness for healthcare needs, and fostering self-sufficiency in medicine manufacture.

The Military Pharmaceutical Factory operates under the auspices of the Defence Industry and Military Energy Center, playing a pivotal role in supplying medicines for both military personnel and civilians. Throughout the visit, the officials examined the factory’s operations, which encompass drug production, procurement processes, and quality control protocols. They emphasized the facility’s critical role in reinforcing Thailand’s defence-oriented healthcare strategy while simultaneously lessening reliance on foreign medicine.

During the inspection, senior officials diligently assessed the pharmaceuticals manufacturing progress and deliberated on enhancing production efficiency and management practices. Initially, the delegation partook in a comprehensive operational briefing at the Ratchaphruek Meeting Room of the Administration Building.
