Sharjah, UAE – In a significant step to promote the Holy Quran and its recitation worldwide, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, launched the recited Holy Quran by Raad Al Kurdi on Wednesday. The recitation follows the Hafs narration from Asim and was presented at the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah.
During the event, Sheikh Dr. Sultan honoured Raad Al Kurdi for completing the full recitation of the Quran. He also recognised reciter Mahmoud Sweidan, who has presented three different recitations of the Quran in various narrations. The ruler praised their dedication and mastery, highlighting the importance of their work in helping students, memorisers, and anyone interested in learning the Quran.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan stressed that such initiatives are crucial for spreading the words of Allah. He noted that accurate audio recitations make it easier for Muslims to recite, memorise, and study the Quran. These efforts also provide reliable references for scholars and students, supporting the global teaching of Quranic sciences.
The ruler further explained that projects like these strengthen Sharjah’s role as a global centre for Quranic knowledge. The Holy Quran Academy continues to offer printed copies, digital editions, and modern applications to serve Muslims around the world. He praised the academy’s work, saying it combines tradition with modern technology, including artificial intelligence, to support learning and preservation of the Quran.
In his address, Sheikh Dr. Sultan thanked both Raad Al Kurdi and Mahmoud Sweidan for their exceptional contributions. He said that their recitations would become a valuable addition to the world’s audio Quranic library. He encouraged researchers, teachers, and students to benefit from these recordings and continue sharing the teachings of the Quran in line with Islam’s noble message.
The Holy Quran Academy has achieved several milestones in recent years. It has issued nearly 2,000 licences to students through the Sharjah Global Online Quran Recitation Platform, with over 1,000 students from 172 countries currently enrolled. This reflects Sharjah’s leadership in spreading Quranic knowledge and maintaining high standards in teaching and research.
By launching this recited Quran, Sharjah continues to highlight its commitment to the Quran, supporting global learning, memorisation, and research. The project not only preserves Islamic tradition but also adapts to modern technologies to reach Muslims worldwide.
The event was widely appreciated by scholars, students, and members of the Muslim community, who acknowledged the importance of making Quranic knowledge accessible to everyone. With initiatives like these, Sharjah is reinforcing its position as a centre of excellence in the study and preservation of the Holy Quran.
