Malaysian actress Scha Alyahya perceives the nation’s cinematic landscape embarking on a remarkable journey, fueled by significant advancements in storytelling, cinematography, and the burgeoning confidence of local talents. This insight emerged as she promoted her upcoming film project, Kata Hati, set for national release on June 4.

Known as Sharifah Nor Azean, Scha has been a staple in Malaysian entertainment since the early 2000s. She has garnered acclaim through hit films like Histeria, Papadom, and Evolusi KL Drift 2, alongside popular television series such as Awan Dania and Prebet Jamilah.

Scha observed that contemporary actors demonstrate greater openness, expressiveness, and assertiveness in contributing ideas than their predecessors. She noted that earlier newcomers often hesitated to question directors or offer creative input during production.

The actress conveyed that the atmosphere within Malaysian film productions has transformed substantially, empowering performers to engage in dialogue about scenes and share their concerns without reservation. This evolution stands as one of the most significant changes she has encountered throughout her career.

Scha commended the swift enhancement of technical and creative elements in Malaysian films and television series. She feels that local filmmakers are now crafting projects that meet elevated standards, particularly in visual storytelling, cinematography, and innovation.

Discussing Kata Hati, directed by Nadiah Hamzah, Scha highlighted that the film seamlessly merges romance, comedy, and action in a way that’s seldom witnessed in local cinema. In her role as Maya, she emphasized that the emotional heart of the narrative centers on familial bonds and sisterly relationships.

One of the film's powerful themes, according to Scha, is the intimate connection between siblings, especially the often maternal responsibilities assumed by older sisters. The movie encourages viewers to cherish their loved ones and reflects genuine emotional challenges many families navigate.

Despite her extensive experience in the industry, Scha has no intention of slowing her pace. She expressed a desire to continue embracing new roles, as each project enriches her craft and provides opportunities to discover diverse characters.

In addition to Kata Hati, Scha is set to appear in the forthcoming film 5 Bomoh directed by Syed Fariz and maintains her role in the iQIYI series Griya, available for streaming.
