The impending release of Sarah Ferguson’s children’s book, Flora And Fern: Kindness Along The Way, has been halted after a series of delays, as indicated by industry analytics. Originally set for launch on 9 October, it was later updated to 20 November, but it has now been completely removed from listing on Amazon.
According to the publisher, the title is now officially classified as “withdrawn from sale.” While representatives for Ferguson have refrained from commenting, New Frontier Publishing has not answered numerous requests for more information.
This development coincides with a tumultuous period for Ferguson, who lost her duchess title when her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, relinquished the Duke of York title due to associations with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Additionally, Andrew has now also lost his prince title.
Booksellers noted last month that the launch date for Flora And Fern had been postponed, but no alternative date has been shared. No updates regarding the book's status have emerged since.
While the specific reasons for the withdrawal remain unclear, industry insiders suggest this decision is likely a reaction to Ferguson's current controversies. A publishing expert stated that the move “makes perfect sense commercially,” arguing that releasing a book tied to Ferguson right now would signal “poor timing.” It appears the publisher may consider reassessing the release in several months since the material is not time-sensitive and can safely be delayed without financial backlash.
Further questions have arisen regarding Ferguson’s relationships with her other publishing houses. One major firm that produced her earlier works opted against commenting on its future association with her but did mention that her earlier titles remain available.
Moreover, reports suggest that Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor are departing the Windsor Royal Lodge. Andrew is anticipated to take up residence at the King’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk, whereas Ferguson’s next living arrangements have yet to be disclosed. Some speculate she may move to Portugal to reside with her daughter, Princess Eugenie, although her team has not provided confirmation.
Simultaneously, Ferguson faces heightened scrutiny regarding her previous ties with Epstein. Recently, several charities severed connections after a 2011 email resurfaced, where she referred to Epstein as her “supreme friend” and seemingly apologized for past criticisms of him.
In spite of these escalating difficulties, Ferguson remains engaged in multiple business endeavors and boasts a diverse publishing background, with works spanning children’s literature, non-fiction about Queen Victoria, and her own autobiographies.
