Bihar is once again at the centre of political controversy as leaders of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) reportedly used abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a recent rally. The incident happened in Samastipur on September 20, 2025, during Tejashwi Yadav’s “Bihar Adhikar Yatra.” A video of the event has gone viral, showing the objectionable behaviour, according to media reports.
This is not the first time such language has been used against PM Modi’s family. Previous incidents were reported in Darbhanga and Mahua, raising concern among citizens and political leaders. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly reacted to this incident, calling it unacceptable and demanding immediate action from authorities.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said on social media that this marks the fourth time PM Modi’s late mother has been targeted publicly. He shared that the abuse was delivered loudly in front of microphones and cameras, making it a public insult. Poonawalla added that this repeated behaviour is a worrying trend and reflects poorly on the RJD and its leadership.
Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal also condemned the remarks. He said that the RJD leadership has become unrestrained and that such behaviour shows a lack of respect for political decorum. He emphasized that no political differences should justify insulting anyone, especially family members of public leaders.
Following the viral video, the BJP Youth Wing filed a formal complaint with the local police. The complaint requested strict action against those responsible for using abusive and obscene language during the rally. Authorities have not yet shared any updates on the investigation.
Political experts note that as elections approach in Bihar, tensions between parties have increased. The BJP’s response highlights how incidents like these can escalate political debates and influence public opinion. Observers stress the importance of keeping political rallies respectful and focused on policy and governance rather than personal attacks.
While political rivalries are a normal part of democratic elections, experts and citizens alike call for a limit to public abuses, especially against family members who are not involved in politics. Many say that such incidents damage the image of democracy and encourage negativity in public discourse.
The viral Samastipur video has reignited discussions on the role of political parties in maintaining civility. Citizens and leaders alike are watching closely to see how the RJD responds and whether the authorities take action to prevent such incidents in the future.
Bihar’s political environment is already charged with upcoming elections. Experts suggest that both parties need to focus on public service, development issues, and voter concerns rather than personal attacks. Civility, they argue, is crucial for maintaining trust in democratic processes and for the people’s faith in political leadership.
