Warning on Numbness: A Signal of Potentially Serious Conditions

Post by : Shakul

Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) has issued an official statement emphasizing that numbness in the hands and feet may indicate serious health concerns. This statement follows an assessment by the Anti-Fake News Center of Thailand (AFNC), which recognized this issue as a highly discussed health claim online.

The ministry notes that while numbness can often be benign, such as when caused by prolonged sitting or lying, it can also suggest critical medical situations. As confirmed by the Institute of Neurology affiliated with the Public Health Ministry, symptoms like sudden numbness affecting one side, speech difficulties, visual disturbances, or balance issues may signify conditions like strokes and necessitate prompt medical intervention.

Experts further highlight that ongoing numbness that persists for days or weeks, when associated with weakness, impaired mobility, or bladder issues should not be overlooked. Symptoms including rapid onset of numbness from the fingertips or ongoing coordination difficulties are also alarming signs that require immediate healthcare consultation.

Additionally, the DE Ministry expressed concerns about the rise of online misinformation. Authorities are urging the public to depend on verified information from credible sources and to refrain from sharing unconfirmed news. Citizens are encouraged to report questionable content through the Anti-Fake News Center’s official channels to assist in curbing misleading information and promoting public health awareness.
