Nita Ambani made a striking appearance at the TIME 100 Summit held in New York, where she engaged in a Leadership Lens session with Jessica Sibley. During the exchange, she articulated a compelling viewpoint, asserting that it is India’s moment to shine and emphasizing the global relevance of soft power, a domain where India excels.
For this high-profile gathering, Nita donned a remarkable Jamdani saree from West Bengal, celebrating India’s rich weaving traditions. This exquisite piece was meticulously handcrafted over a span of two years by Padma Shri award recipient Biren Kumar Basak from Phulia, West Bengal.
The elegant six-yard saree featured a delicate cream foundation embellished with vibrant motifs and intricate meenakari detailing. It beautifully merged tribal influences with narrative artistry and traditional craftsmanship. The pallu narrated detailed scenes of human life, wildlife, and nature-inspired designs, while the borders were adorned with fish motifs, symbolizing abundance and good fortune.
The saree was presented by Swadesh, an organization renowned for championing traditional Indian crafts and collaborating with talented artisans.
Nita paired her saree with exquisite jewelry, including a triple-strand pearl necklace, emerald and diamond earrings, and a standout emerald ring alongside complementary bangles. Her look was elegantly finished with understated makeup, featuring a green bindi, kohl-lined eyes, and soft pink lips.
