The much-anticipated fourth entry in the adult comedy series, Mastiii 4, is slated for theatrical release on 21 November after obtaining approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). On 17 November, the board granted the film an ‘A’ rating, following significant edits that included changes to visuals and dialogues.
Among the required alterations, a nine-second scene involving animal behavior was cut, along with a 30-second close-up sequence. Additionally, filmmakers were instructed to change specific dialogues to adhere to certification standards. The word behen (sister) was replaced in one instance, while another dialogue saw the word item changed. A brand name for an alcohol product was also modified. These adjustments were essential to align the film with censorship regulations while maintaining its adult-comedy essence.
Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, Mastiii 4 brings back familiar faces from the franchise: Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani. This film marks the return of Aftab Shivdasani to the screen after a six-year hiatus. The cast also includes Elnaaz Norouzi, Shreya Sharma, and Ruhi Singh, featuring special appearances by Genelia D’Souza, Arshad Warsi, and Nargis Fakhri.
The Masti series, which kicked off in 2004 with the hit original, Masti, directed by Indra Kumar, was a sleeper success with earnings of ₹34 crore. The sequel Grand Masti achieved blockbuster status, grossing over ₹150 crore worldwide. The third film, Great Grand Masti (2016), fell short of the previous entries' commercial successes. With Mastiii 4, the franchise continues its tradition of adult comedy, mixing in familiar and fresh faces.
