Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s romantic action film, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, is holding firm at the box office as it wraps up its opening weekend with a total of ₹22.75 crore. The movie, directed by Milap Zaveri, saw only a modest decline in attendance following the Diwali celebrations, reflecting its appeal despite mixed reviews.
Day-wise box office analysis
Making a strong debut on Diwali, the film garnered ₹9 crore net in India on its first day (Tuesday). Its second day's earnings fell by 14%, totaling ₹7.75 crore. On its third day, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat added ₹6 crore, culminating in a three-day aggregate of ₹22.75 crore net.
The decrease observed on Thursday was just over 22%, illustrating a solid trend for a film in its budget category post a festive release.
Comparative performance with Thamma
In direct competition with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has shown a more consistent performance through the weekdays. While Thamma had a broader release, it experienced a steep 33% drop in collections on day three, compared to Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’s 22% decline.
In the first three days, Thamma faced nearly 50% drop from its opening, while Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat managed to limit its decline to 33%, indicating better word-of-mouth results.
Weekend prospects
This weekend will be pivotal for the film's box office standing. Should Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat surpass the ₹50 crore net threshold by Sunday, it will be deemed a financial success, particularly given its ₹25 crore budget. Positive feedback from audiences in smaller towns and Tier-2 cities could further enhance its box office viability.
Milap Zaveri’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in lead roles, boasts a cast that also includes Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. While critics have provided mixed reviews, the film's widespread appeal, emotional depth, and the chemistry between the leads have resonated with audiences.
