Deepika Padukone's 2025 marks a significant shift in her career. After being linked to two high-profile pan-India movies, she has decided to take a different path. The actress has amicably left director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film Spirit and is no longer part of the Kalki 2898 AD sequel helmed by Nag Ashwin.
The blockbuster 2024 Kalki 2898 AD featured Deepika alongside stars like Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. Her departure stirred considerable media speculation, especially after she reportedly requested shorter working hours due to her recent motherhood, which led to Triptii Dimri stepping in for her role in Spirit.
In an enlightening interview, Deepika expressed that the allure of large-budget films has waned for her. “Honestly, how much more fame, how much more success, how much more money? At this stage, it’s not about that anymore. It’s less about ₹100-crore films or even the ₹500-₹600 crore ones,” she stated.
Deepika's current focus is on meaningful storytelling and nurturing new talent. “What excites me is empowering other talent. My team and I are committed to enabling storytelling and supporting creative minds, from writers to directors and emerging producers. That’s what truly matters to me now,” she remarked.
While stepping away from certain projects, Deepika is still set to feature in two major films. She will team up with Shah Rukh Khan for King, directed by Siddharth Anand, alongside Suhana Khan, expected for release in 2026. Additionally, she will star opposite Allu Arjun in Atlee's currently untitled project, tentatively named AA22xA6, slated for 2027.
