D4vd has been arrested in Los Angeles in connection with the death of a teenage girl whose remains were discovered last year, according to police officials.
The 21-year-old artist, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder following a grand jury investigation into the case of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Authorities confirmed that he is currently being held without bail, and the case is expected to be presented to prosecutors in the coming days.
The investigation began after the girl’s remains were found on September 8, 2025, inside a vehicle linked to the singer. According to court documents, the body was discovered in a severely decomposed state in a Tesla that had been towed to a yard in Hollywood after reports of a strong odor.
Officials said the remains were found in the front compartment of the car, and early assessments suggested the victim may have been dead for several weeks before the discovery. The exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed, and authorities had initially treated the case as a death investigation before upgrading it.
The victim had been reported missing by her family in April 2024 from her home in Southern California. Investigators noted that she had previously left home on multiple occasions, but her disappearance last year triggered a wider search effort.
Over the past several months, the case has drawn significant public attention, especially online, due to limited official information and speculation about the connection between the victim and the singer. A grand jury began reviewing evidence in late 2025, eventually leading to the arrest.
Police have not released detailed information about the alleged circumstances of the crime but confirmed that the arrest marks a major development in the ongoing investigation. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence as the legal process moves forward.
Following the discovery of the body last year, the singer had largely withdrawn from public appearances and cancelled professional commitments. Several brand partnerships and collaborations were also reportedly affected.
The case remains under investigation, and officials have not yet announced further charges or a confirmed timeline for court proceedings.
