Bollywood icon Govinda was hospitalized on Wednesday morning after fainting at his residence in Mumbai. Emergency services took him to CritiCare Asia Multispeciality Hospital for immediate care.
His lawyer, Lalit Bindal, mentioned that the actor had been feeling unwell prior to the incident. “He was disoriented. All tests have been conducted, and we're now waiting for the reports and the neuro consultant's feedback. His condition is stable now,” Bindal stated.
Notably, the 60-year-old's health crisis occurred just a day after visiting fellow actor Dharmendra, who is recuperating at Breach Candy Hospital. A video circulated on social media showed Govinda leaving the hospital looking concerned.
This incident marks another hospitalization for Govinda in recent times. Last October, he sustained a bullet wound to his knee due to an accidental discharge from his licensed weapon at home.
The event unfolded around 4:45 am while he was preparing for a show in Kolkata. The firearm discharged when he was putting it away in the cabinet.
Reflecting on the incident, Govinda recounted, “I was set to leave for a show in Kolkata. It was around 5 in the morning when it fell and went off. I was shocked to see blood when I looked down. I immediately contacted my doctor and was admitted.”
He was released after three days and met fans outside the hospital, expressing gratitude with folded hands, alongside his wife Sunita Ahuja and daughter Tina Ahuja.
Known for his infectious charisma and excellent comedic timing, Govinda is one of Bollywood's cherished figures. He gained prominence in the late 1980s with hits such as Ilzaam (1986) and Love 86 (1986).
His long-standing collaboration with director David Dhawan led to numerous successful films, including Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Raja Babu, and Partner. Besides comedy, he has also showcased his versatility by taking on serious roles that demonstrate his broad acting range.
Over his illustrious three-decade career, Govinda has remained a prominent figure in Indian cinema. His most recent film was Rangeela Raja (2019).
Currently, Govinda is stable and under close observation. Doctors have performed all essential tests and are awaiting neurological consultations to investigate the cause of his fainting episode, as fans nationwide send their wishes for his swift recovery.
