Post by : Mina Carter

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Mindanao, Philippines, on Friday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). Authorities reported no immediate casualties or damage.

Residents across Mindanao felt tremors, with some reporting swaying buildings and rattling objects. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said emergency teams are monitoring affected areas and advising residents to stay cautious.

Mindanao lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a region prone to earthquakes and volcanic activity. Seismologists noted that aftershocks may follow in the coming days, but the current quake caused no significant harm.

Officials reminded residents to follow earthquake safety protocols, secure heavy items, and stay updated on official advisories.
