The Dubai Press Club (DPC) held a significant dialogue session titled “The Future of Regional Relations following the Iranian Aggression”, showcasing His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, who chairs the Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC).
Among the attendees were Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, along with Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club. The session also welcomed senior media leaders and professionals from varied sectors.
Dr. Al Nuaimi highlighted the significant transformations influencing the region and their implications on international relations, particularly in light of evolving geopolitical contexts. He addressed both the challenges and opportunities that arise on both regional and global scales.
He pointed out that recent provocative actions towards the UAE and Gulf countries underscore the strength and resilience of Emirati institutions. This unprecedented coordination among national bodies played a crucial role in safeguarding the nation's achievements, astonishing many observers with the level of preparedness displayed.
Emphasizing the centrality of people in the UAE's priorities, Dr. Al Nuaimi shared examples of how thousands of stranded travelers at airports received necessary support and accommodation, epitomizing the nation's humanitarian ethos.
He underscored the media's vital role, equating its importance to that of defense and security in national protection. Media professionals, he stated, are integral to the country’s representation, and challenges today extend beyond military aspects to encompass media awareness and responsibility.
Additionally, he mentioned that the UAE is continuing to fortify its defense, political, and economic frameworks while also adapting its regional and international ties. National interests remain a priority as the country adjusts to shifting global realities.
Dr. Al Nuaimi stressed the importance of forging genuine partnerships founded on mutual benefits rather than mere rhetoric, aiming for enduring and stable connections.
He also addressed security concerns, revealing the dismantling of a terrorist cell linked to the Iranian regime, which posed a threat to national security. He commended UAE security forces for their effective responses to such challenges.
Regarding Iran, he emphasized differentiating between its government and citizens, noting the ordinary population often suffers the most. The UAE maintains a respectful approach toward the Iranian community, consciously avoiding politicization of their presence.
Dr. Al Nuaimi cautioned against erroneous media portrayals and highlighted the importance of accurate comprehension of regional matters. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to peace, dialogue, and cooperation.
In closing, he commended the Dubai Press Club for providing a robust platform for dialogue, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a premier media hub regionally and globally.
