Mohamed Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, the United Arab Emirates’ ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines, was recognised with the title “Ambassador of Goodwill for Peace.” The award was conferred by the United Nations Association of the Philippines (UNAP) during events marking the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the Outstanding Humanitarian Awards Night on 24th October 2025.

The accolade honours individuals who have made notable contributions to peace, development and humanitarian collaboration. Ambassador Al Zaabi’s recognition highlights his sustained efforts to deepen ties between the UAE and the Philippines and to back programmes that deliver real help to vulnerable communities.

Throughout his posting, Al Zaabi has actively cultivated stronger bilateral relations, promoting cooperation across humanitarian, cultural and development fields. UNAP’s award signals appreciation for his persistent work to foster mutual understanding and partnership.

Under his stewardship, the UAE Embassy in Manila has become a focal point for goodwill and practical assistance, reflecting the nation’s diplomatic emphasis on compassion, peaceful engagement and collaborative action.

The honour also channels the humanitarian spirit of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s founding father, whose legacy continues to influence the country’s international outreach and charitable initiatives.

That legacy endures under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, who has kept humanitarian service and international cooperation central to the nation’s global agenda. Al Zaabi’s award is an example of how those principles are expressed in diplomatic practice.

The UAE has repeatedly stood by the Philippines during emergencies, contributing relief, medical support and development assistance in times of crisis.

From dispatching cargo aircraft loaded with relief supplies to financing community recovery projects, the UAE has demonstrated consistent solidarity with the Filipino people in the face of natural disasters and other humanitarian needs.

This recognition of Ambassador Al Zaabi also reflects the UAE’s commitment to tolerance, coexistence and peacebuilding—values that underpin its approach to foreign relations and have earned the country international respect.

By encouraging dialogue and greater understanding, the UAE aims to help build stability and shared prosperity. Al Zaabi’s work in the Philippines serves as a practical illustration of those ambitions.

In his diplomatic role, Al Zaabi has worked to connect people and institutions, stressing cooperation, empathy and shared responsibility. The UNAP distinction affirms the positive reception of those efforts on the global stage.

As the world contends with conflicts, climate pressures and humanitarian strains, the UAE continues to advocate for peace, humanitarian relief and sustainable development. Diplomats like Ambassador Al Zaabi help to translate that advocacy into on-the-ground support.

The award marks both a personal milestone for Mohamed Obaid Salem Al Zaabi and a wider recognition of the UAE’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian ideals—diplomacy guided by compassion and service.

By living these values, the ambassador bolsters the UAE’s role as a partner in peace and goodwill, ensuring that Sheikh Zayed’s humanitarian vision continues to inspire future efforts.

His recognition by UNAP underlines how diplomatic engagement can deliver tangible benefits for communities and deepen friendships between nations.

Through continued collaboration and principled outreach, Ambassador Al Zaabi’s work reaffirms the UAE’s dedication to supporting those in need and promoting harmonious international relations.
