Strengthening Ties: UAE President and Canadian PM Meet

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, welcomed the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, to discuss enhancing their bilateral ties. This meeting took place during the Prime Minister's official visit to the UAE at Qasr Al Shati, Abu Dhabi.

Throughout their discussions, the leaders reflected on the UAE-Canada partnership, a robust relationship cultivated over more than five decades. They underscored their ambition to build upon this foundation and delve into new avenues across crucial sectors, including trade, investment, technology, AI, renewable energy, climate action, education, culture, and sustainability.

The agenda also covered pressing regional and global matters of shared interest. Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to fostering peace, security, and stability at regional and international levels, acknowledging the critical role of multilateral cooperation in achieving collective prosperity.

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed stated that the UAE-Canada partnership exemplifies effective collaboration aimed at driving sustainable development and prosperity both regionally and worldwide. He noted that both countries share similar perspectives on issues that bolster development, peace, and global cooperation.

Prime Minister Carney expressed his appreciation for the achievements in UAE-Canada relations thus far. He reiterated Canada’s commitment to deepening cooperation in areas that align with mutual interests, noting that the partnership contributes positively to global peace and stability.

During the visit, an agreement was signed to enhance the protection and promotion of investment, aimed at stimulating economic cooperation, furthering strategic projects, and advancing mutual development objectives. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan signed for the UAE, while Prime Minister Carney represented Canada.

Additionally, both governments endorsed a memorandum of understanding dedicated to investment cooperation, symbolizing their intent to broaden economic ties and discover fresh opportunities to fortify the UAE-Canada connection.

Attending the meeting were distinguished senior officials from the UAE, including H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, along with other ministers.

This significant visit and the resulting agreements highlight the robust UAE-Canada partnership, with both nations striving to enhance collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, technology, and sustainable development to yield enduring benefits for their peoples and bolster regional and global stability.

Through these initiatives, the UAE and Canada are reaffirming their pledge to cultivate a future built on cooperation, shared progress, and mutual respect, while nurturing ties that have flourished for over fifty years.
