A representative group from Turkmenistan's Ministry of Education is attending the Education World Forum 2026 in London, running from May 17 to May 21. The delegation is led by Deputy Minister Azat Atayev.
Recognized as a premier global platform, the Education World Forum emphasizes education policy, digital innovation, and the advancement of human capital. It gathers ministers, policy-makers, and education specialists worldwide to deliberate on the evolution of education systems globally.
During the initial sessions at the Park Plaza London Westminster Bridge Hotel, Turkmen officials shared insights on educational reforms underway in their country, including initiatives to embed climate resilience and environmental education in curricula.
At the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, the delegation engaged in targeted discussions about digital transformation, teacher development, educational leadership, and sustainable learning environments. They also presented advancements in university reforms and scientific progress.
Representatives reported notable enhancements in the quality of higher education, featuring the launch of a KPI management system for universities encompassing over 80 indicators. Furthermore, they highlighted growth in scholarly publications, improved citation metrics, and the establishment of commercialization centers for research initiatives.
The delegation unveiled the Strategy for the Advancement of Higher Education in Turkmenistan for 2026–2052, along with the Atlas of Future Professions—a framework designed to equip students for the demands of the future workforce and the digital economy.
Several critical bilateral discussions took place during the forum. Talks with educational technology provider Classera centered on AI educational tools, analytics, and personalized learning systems, leading to the prospect of pilot projects on digital education platforms.
Meetings with ClassLink were focused on digital education infrastructure, the integration of educational data, and enhancing school management systems. Additionally, discussions with Times Higher Education revolved around international university rankings and boosting Turkmen institutions' global profile.
The delegation engaged in conversations regarding international certification systems with Pearson and education testing standards with the Educational Testing Service. They also met with the British Council to examine collaborative projects in English language instruction, inclusive education, and teacher training initiatives.
Deputy Minister Azat Atayev had a meeting with the UK's Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, where they discussed enhancing educational collaboration between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom moving forward.
Officials from Turkmenistan emphasized that their participation in the Education World Forum 2026 will foster international partnerships, promote digital transformation in education, and bolster efforts to cultivate competitive human capital for the future.
