Thailand is ramping up its nationwide initiative to tackle wildfires by establishing a centralized War Room aimed at effectively monitoring and managing ongoing situations. Key personnel have been dispatched to critical regions, including Kanchanaburi, to enhance operational effectiveness.

Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, stated that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is intensifying wildfire management efforts, emphasizing both fire control and personnel safety.

A specialized team recently visited the wildfire command and monitoring hub located at the Salak Phra Wildlife Sanctuary in Kanchanaburi to evaluate the current situation. Ground units have been urged to escalate firefighting actions, contain the spread of flames in critical areas, and utilize aerial assistance for difficult terrains.

The Ministry highlighted a stringent “safety first” protocol, mandating all departments to ensure that their teams, equipment, and vehicles are fully prepared prior to deployment. New measures, including rotating teams in high-risk zones, have been instituted to mitigate fatigue and lower injury rates.

Preventative measures are being enhanced nationwide, with fortified surveillance in protected forests and wildlife areas. Authorities are working closely with local agencies and provincial leaders to implement strict regulations against illegal forest burning and to curb fire threats.

In related news, two firefighters have sustained injuries while combating fires at Phu Pha Thoep National Park. Their injuries resulted from extreme heat and exhaustion, and both are receiving thorough medical care.

The government has reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding both natural resources and frontline personnel. Authorities have confirmed that alert levels will remain high throughout April to manage wildfires and mitigate their environmental and community effects.
