Thailand is advancing its Digital Government Development Plan for 2027-2032, focusing on transforming public services into a streamlined, secure, and accessible experience for citizens, businesses, and expatriates.
The inaugural session of the Digital Government Development Committee for 2026 took place at Government House in Bangkok, led by Paradorn Prisnanantakul, the Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office. Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaiyanok Chidchob and a range of officials from various governmental sectors were also present.
Officials highlighted that the envisioned framework aims to modernize Thailand's public services within the digital landscape. The government seeks to create a digital management system that enhances access and reliability for citizens nationwide.
The plan is structured around five strategic pillars, focusing on upgrading digital governmental services, integrating government databases, enhancing digital infrastructure, encouraging artificial intelligence usage, and boosting the digital skills of government personnel.
A standout feature of this initiative is the introduction of a “Single Portal” platform, enabling citizens to access a multitude of governmental services from one digital channel. This system will leverage a Digital ID and incorporate features like e-Signatures, Document Wallets, and a National Payment Platform.
Officials are optimistic that this system will streamline processes, increase operational efficiency, and expedite government services. Furthermore, there are plans to incorporate AI technology to enhance public service delivery, internal governance, and policy evaluation, ultimately fostering transparency and sound decision-making.
The meeting also emphasized enhancing data sharing among government entities via the Government Data Exchange Center, adhering to the Federated Data Exchange framework. This initiative aims to minimize the need for citizens to resubmit documentation, thereby improving inter-departmental cooperation.
Thailand endeavors to synchronize its digital transformation with the United Nations e-Government Development Index benchmarks. Relevant bodies have been tasked with developing detailed execution plans ahead of the forthcoming committee meeting.
