Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty was spotted at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on Thursday, looking visibly anxious after her mother, Sunanda Shetty, was admitted for medical care. According to sources close to the family, Sunanda was hospitalised late Wednesday night following age-related health complications.
Witnesses at the hospital saw Shilpa arriving quietly, dressed casually, and avoiding cameras as she made her way inside. Her concerned expression reflected her deep attachment to her mother, who, according to those close to the family, has been dealing with recurring health issues for some time.
Recent Legal Challenges
The hospital visit came just days after Shilpa decided to withdraw her plea seeking permission to travel abroad. This followed the Bombay High Court’s refusal to stay the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against her and her husband, Raj Kundra, in an alleged ₹60-crore cheating case.
Earlier this month, the High Court stated that their request to lift the LOC and allow international travel would be considered only if the couple deposited the disputed ₹60 crore amount. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police had previously issued the circular, restricting both from leaving the country.
Later, Shilpa’s counsel informed the Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam A. Ankhad, that the actress had chosen not to pursue her travel plans for the time being.
Family Moments Before Hospitalisation
Interestingly, just a few days before her mother’s hospitalisation, Shilpa had shared pictures from her Diwali celebrations with her sister Shamita Shetty and husband Raj Kundra. The family appeared joyful in coordinated traditional attire, celebrating amid glowing diyas and festive decorations. Those cheerful photos have now taken on a more emotional meaning following her mother’s sudden illness.
Shilpa has always shared a close bond with her mother, who has been a strong presence throughout her career. Sunanda was often seen at events and had even helped Shilpa manage parts of her professional life in her early days in the industry.
On the work front, Shilpa was last seen as a judge on the reality show ‘Super Dancer Chapter 5’, where her lively personality and candid feedback made her a fan favourite. Meanwhile, Raj Kundra recently made a television appearance on the reality series ‘The Traitors’, marking his return to the screen after several years.
Despite the couple’s ongoing legal hurdles, Shilpa has maintained her professional commitments and an active social media presence, often sharing glimpses of her workouts, family life, and upcoming projects.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the Shetty family regarding Sunanda’s health, but hospital sources indicated she is under observation and responding well to treatment.
Fans across social media platforms have been expressing concern and sending messages of support to Shilpa, hoping for her mother’s speedy recovery.
