A new series reimagines the legendary tale of Robin Hood, showing how he became the famous outlaw who robbed the rich to help the poor.

The show, simply called Rob, stars Australian actor Jack Patten in his first major role. The 28-year-old said he had heard of Robin Hood but had never seen earlier versions. “Every generation deserves a Robin Hood,” he said at the London premiere.

Set in 12th century England after the Norman invasion, the 10-episode series tells the story of Rob’s transformation into a rebel after facing deep loss and injustice. It also focuses on his love story with Marian, played by Lauren McQueen, the daughter of a Norman lord.

The show’s creators, John Glenn and Jonathan English, said they wanted to explore class struggle and the events that made Robin an outlaw. “It’s about how he becomes who he is, and it’s also about class and power — very relevant today,” said English.

The series also stars Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham and Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. Robin Hood begins streaming on MGM+ from November 2.
