PM Modi Celebrates Rajinikanth's 75th Birthday and Cinematic Legacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the renowned actor Rajinikanth on the occasion of his 75th birthday, commending his remarkable impact on Indian cinema. Modi acknowledged the actor’s illustrious fifty-year journey, spotlighting his unforgettable roles across various genres that have inspired countless admirers.

This milestone year also marks Rajinikanth's impressive 50 years in the film industry, a celebration that featured prominent recognition at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, where he was bestowed with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin joined in the celebrations, offering his warm regards and lauding Rajinikanth’s timeless appeal while referring to him affectionately as a friend and the legendary “Thalaiva.”

Born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on December 12, 1950, Rajinikanth ascended from a position as a bus conductor in Bengaluru to become one of Asia’s most cherished entertainers. His cinematic debut in Apoorva Raagangal (1975) was the beginning of a trail of successful films including Moondru Mudichu, Mullum Malarum, Billa, Moondru Mugam, and Padikkadavan, which showcased his distinctive style and captivating screen presence, catapulting him into an iconic status.

The 1990s further solidified his superstar standing with blockbusters like Annamalai, Baashha, Muthu, and Padayappa. His film Muthu garnered international acclaim, particularly in Japan, establishing a vast fanbase globally. In the ensuing decades, Rajinikanth helmed major successes such as Chandramukhi, Sivaji, Enthiran, and 2.0, raising the bar for technical and commercial excellence in Indian films.
