The Public Works Authority, known as Ashghal, has disclosed a significant augmentation of Qatar’s sewage infrastructure from 2013 to 2025, showcasing impressive growth in both capacity and operational efficiency.
Ashghal reports that the total length of the sewage network has soared by 207%, climbing from 2,836 kilometers in 2013 to an anticipated 9,707 kilometers by 2025. This advancement aligns with the efforts to cater to the swift urban development and to enhance the sustainability and reliability of public services.
The newly updated sewage system encompasses 3,326 kilometers of sewage lines, alongside 2,084 kilometers of treated sewage effluent (TSE) infrastructure, 494 kilometers of rising main pipelines, and 911 kilometers of networks connecting homes.
Moreover, this system integrates 79,348 drainage manholes and 165,924 surface drainage gullies, which collectively reinforce drainage and wastewater management across the nation.
Ashghal also highlighted considerable advancements in supporting facilities, including eight wastewater treatment plants, 120 foul sewer pumping stations, 13 TSE pumping stations, and 71 pumping stations for both ground and surface water.
This extensive expansion underscores Qatar’s ongoing commitment to modern infrastructure, ensuring sustainable development and enhanced public utility services.
