In a significant series of meetings, Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, convened with high-ranking officials from Singapore and Malaysia during the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026 held in Singapore.
The discussions on Friday featured individual meetings with Singapore's Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister for Defense, Chan Chun Sing; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan; Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, K. Shanmugam; in addition to Malaysia's Minister of Defense, Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Key topics included regional security dynamics, fortifying military collaborations, and enhancing joint initiatives to confront ongoing regional challenges. The leaders exchanged insights on matters of shared interest and deliberated on methods to deepen defense and security alliances.
The discussions underscored the commitment of Qatar, Singapore, and Malaysia to uphold close cooperation on security issues and foster regional stability through ongoing dialogue and partnership.
Present at the meetings was Qatar’s Ambassador to Singapore, Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Almalki Al Jehani, alongside senior military officials and representatives from both countries.
