Director Sukumar’s blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, is scheduled to release in Japan on January 16, 2026. The date was confirmed by Geek Pictures India, which announced that the film is set to begin its next international chapter with its Japanese theatrical run. Rashmika Mandanna also expressed her excitement and shared the Japanese trailer link while greeting fans in Japan.
The film continues to ride on the momentum of its exceptional success. After a strong 50-day run in theatres, it returned with a reloaded version featuring an extra 20 minutes of footage. It became the first Hindi release to join the ₹800-crore club and later crossed ₹1,800 crore globally, making it India’s highest-grossing film to date. Its performance set several new benchmarks for domestic and international box office records.
The story centres on Pushpa Raj, a man who rises from loss and hardship to lead a powerful red-sandalwood syndicate. The film is part of a planned three-part franchise, produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, with music under the T-Series banner. Pushpa 2 originally hit theatres on December 5, 2024, and its Japan release adds another major milestone to its expanding global journey.
