Ottawa police responded on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. to reports of a hate-motivated assault at Billings Bridge OC Transpo station, during the start of the evening commute.
Officers discovered three youths targeting victims with offensive slurs, which escalated into a physical confrontation. During the incident, two conducted energy weapons were displayed but not used.
A bystander intervened to help the victims and was threatened with one of the weapons.
All three youths were arrested and now face multiple charges, including assault, threats, and weapons offenses. Their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Ottawa police thanked the witness for stepping in and urged residents to report any hate-motivated incidents to authorities.
