Mubadala Investment Company has made a significant minority investment in Power Factors, a premier provider of software for managing renewable energy. This strategic move comes in collaboration with existing investor Vista Equity Partners.

With this partnership, the focus is on bolstering Power Factors' growth trajectory, innovation capabilities, and footprint in the rapidly expanding renewable energy industry.

Power Factors is renowned for its Unity platform, which allows renewable energy stakeholders to efficiently oversee and optimize their wind, solar, and energy storage assets via a unified system. The platform encompasses services such as monitoring, analytics, and both technical and commercial asset management.

Currently, Power Factors assists 70% of the leading 50 global renewable energy producers, providing services to over 600 clients across more than 18,000 sites in 70+ countries, managing an impressive 310 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity.

Abdulla Mohamed Shadid, Head of Energy and Sustainability within Mubadala’s Private Equity division, emphasized that this investment underscores Mubadala’s ongoing commitment to advancing renewable energy. He indicated that as global renewable energy portfolios expand, the need for sophisticated software solutions and intelligent monitoring becomes increasingly critical in enhancing performance and operational efficiency.

Shadid expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Vista Equity Partners to empower Power Factors’ growth as a top-tier renewable energy management solution.

The investment will fuel the company's efforts in advancing its AI-driven Renewable Energy Management Intelligence system, or REMI, which leverages artificial intelligence to offer operators deeper insights into managing operational data across renewable energy initiatives.

Additionally, the new funding will enhance Power Factors' technologies focused on energy storage management, fostering advancements in battery storage system development and hybrid renewable energy solutions to bolster electricity grids.

Julieann Esper Rainville, CEO of Power Factors, remarked that the increasing complexity of renewable energy portfolios necessitates intelligent, unified management solutions. She believes this investment will help expedite their goal of providing the most advanced AI-based renewable energy management platforms.

Patrick Severson, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of the Foundation Fund at Vista Equity Partners, noted that Power Factors has established itself as a crucial platform for global renewable energy operators. He added that Mubadala’s expertise in technology and infrastructure will be pivotal as Power Factors embarks on its next chapter of innovation and international expansion.

As nations ramp up investments in clean energy and storage systems, the renewable energy sector is experiencing unprecedented growth. The increasing scale and integration of renewable projects make software solutions essential for enhancing performance, lowering operational costs, and advancing modern energy systems.
