A state-of-the-art surgical training facility has been inaugurated by MedLab Training Institute at Dubai Science Park, a premier science-oriented environment within TECOM Group.
This center aims to cater to the rising need for hands-on clinical training among healthcare professionals in the Middle East. Emphasizing simulation and cadaver-based learning, it helps medical practitioners enhance their procedural skills and master advanced surgical techniques.
With the capacity to train approximately 1,000 to 1,500 healthcare professionals annually—ranging from consultants to early-career practitioners—the programs will feature international instructors, regional specialists, and collaborations with industry leaders to provide diverse surgical training experiences.
The faculty consists of expert surgeons and specialists with a strong mix of academic and clinical expertise, many hailing from esteemed teaching hospitals in Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
The facility is equipped with cadaveric laboratories, cutting-edge audiovisual systems for live demonstrations and recordings, and tailored teaching spaces for immersive learning experiences. The cadaveric training approach allows healthcare professionals to practice on human anatomy in a supervised manner, enhancing surgical accuracy and patient care quality.
Courses are aligned with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, with sessions typically ranging from one to three days, featuring comprehensive hands-on experiences lasting up to eight hours each day.
The training offered encompasses various medical specialties, including orthopaedics, spine and sports surgery, maxillofacial treatments, and reconstructive procedures.
Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi expressed that this new center bolsters the UAE’s healthcare and life sciences landscape by introducing advanced surgical training resources. He emphasized that this initiative promotes superior clinical skills and patient care, coinciding with the UAE’s developmental aspirations, including the “We the UAE 2031” vision and the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33.”
Dr. Bilal El-Yafawi stated that MedLab was founded to foster surgical education through practical, real-world experiences. He noted that this new training facility will facilitate the continuous growth of healthcare professionals regionally.
Additionally, MedLab intends to expand training offerings and enhance partnerships with healthcare institutions and industry leaders in the coming years, aspiring to increase participant numbers and establish the center as a significant hub for advanced surgical education in the region.
