A man has died after being struck by a train on the SkyTrain in Vancouver, in what police believe was an accidental incident. The घटना took place on Friday evening at the Main Street-Science World Station, a busy transit location in the city.
According to Metro Vancouver Transit Police, officers were called to the station shortly after 8 p.m. following reports of a person in medical distress. When emergency responders arrived, they found the man critically injured. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have stated that the incident does not appear to be suspicious. Early findings suggest there is no evidence of criminal activity involved. Police also indicated that, at this stage of the investigation, the death is not believed to be a suicide, and is instead being treated as an दुर्घटना.
The incident caused major disruption to transit services in the area. The station remained closed for more than four hours as investigators worked at the scene and waited for the arrival of the coroner. During this time, commuters experienced delays along the line.
BC Emergency Health Services confirmed that two ambulances were dispatched in response to the emergency. However, no patients were transported to the hospital, as the victim had already died at the scene.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are expected to review surveillance footage and gather further details to fully understand how the incident occurred.
Police are urging the public to remain cautious around transit platforms and follow all safety guidelines, as investigations continue into the tragic घटना.
