One of India's beloved stars, Madhuri Dixit, recently shared her heartfelt journey with her husband, Dr. Shriram Nene, unveiling the tender layers of their relationship. During a candid conversation on a well-known podcast hosted by Ranveer Allahabadia, she recounted her past, revealing how her focus on her career made her cautious about romantic partners. “Although friends were eager to set me up, my passion for my career took priority. I feared that choosing the wrong partner would overshadow my happiness. I never dreamed of a fairy tale,” she remarked, showcasing her practical view on love.
Despite friends' matchmaking attempts, a genuine connection blossomed when she met Dr. Nene. Since tying the knot on October 17, 1999, they have embraced family life with their two sons, Arin and Ryan, while balancing their respective careers. Madhuri attributed the strength of their partnership to the respect, encouragement, and positivity they share, calling their love a unique blend of art and science. She elaborated, “I’m fortunate to have married such a romantic man. Our relationship thrives on mutual respect and a shared commitment to promoting health and wellness.”
Madhuri also shared touching instances of Dr. Nene’s support for her creative endeavors. During the recent lockdown, he helped her shoot the music video for Candle, even learning camera techniques for the occasion. She praised his compassion, intellect, and dedication as a healthcare professional, saying, “When he talks about his patients, the passion he exudes is remarkable. He is naturally empathetic, highly educated, and even loves photography. We truly are each other's greatest blessings, with my husband being a greater gift than my career.”
Their romance portrayed a modern narrative, initiated by her brother's introduction yet blossoming naturally over a six-month courtship before marriage. Following their wedding, they shifted to the United States, focusing on family away from media glare. After the birth of their sons in 2003 and 2005, they returned to Mumbai in 2011, allowing Madhuri to reignite her career in entertainment. Over the years, they have skillfully blended their professional lives with strong family ties, fostering a partnership grounded in trust and shared values.
On the professional front, Madhuri is set to make a significant comeback with a riveting role in the psychological thriller series Mrs. Deshpande, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. In the show, she plays a convicted serial killer asked to assist police in tracking down a copycat murderer. Slated to premiere on JioHotstar on December 19, 2025, this series is an Indian reimagining of the French thriller La Mante, weaving together suspense, psychological drama, and moral complexities. Mrs. Deshpande heralds an exciting new chapter in Madhuri's illustrious career.
Throughout her interview, Madhuri Dixit not only celebrated her loving marriage but also highlighted the significance of partnering with someone who shares core values and mutual respect, emphasizing that true love and career aspirations can harmoniously coexist.
