LRT Services Adjusted Amid Repair Work

Post by : Shakul

On Friday, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) systems for Malaysia’s Ampang and Sri Petaling lines operated on a modified schedule due to ongoing repair efforts after a train derailment near Chan Sow Lin Station. Stations remained operational, with services adapting to ensure minimal disruption for daily commuters.

Surveys at various stations revealed that operations continued smoothly, with ticket counters open and staff available to assist passengers. Rapid Rail personnel were strategically placed across platforms to offer travel guidance and help navigate the temporary service modifications.

At key stations like Cheras, only a single platform was available for trains traveling in both directions. Passengers heading toward Putra Heights and Sentul Timur were informed about new boarding procedures through announcements made over the station’s loudspeakers. This approach allowed for continued train services while repair teams attended to the damaged track section.

Commuters expressed appreciation for the assistance offered by railway staff during these changes. Many noted that clear instructions and the presence of personnel helped alleviate confusion despite the altered boarding protocols. Most travelers were able to proceed with only slight delays.

However, some passengers decided to use alternative transport options after noting the adjustments. A number chose e-hailing services after reaching connecting stations, citing ease of use and worries over additional travel time. Still, many recognized the efforts of transit operators to ensure consistent service.

The disruptions stemmed from a derailment of an Ampang/Sri Petaling Line train near Chan Sow Lin Station on Thursday morning. Authorities later confirmed that the incident resulted from a fault in the track switching mechanism, which affected train movement and necessitated immediate repairs.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke indicated that repair work is progressing swiftly, and the affected track is anticipated to be fully operational by next Wednesday at the latest. He reassured passengers that all stations along the route will remain open during the repairs, with adjusted schedules maintaining service while improvements are carried out.
