Priya Kapur Disputes Claims of Unpaid Fees in Sunjay Kapur Estate Dispute

Post by : Mina Carter

Priya Kapur has firmly dismissed claims asserting that Samaira Kapoor’s university fees were unpaid. This issue arose during ongoing legal proceedings concerning the estate of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, who passed away in London earlier this year.

At the Delhi High Court, Priya Kapur’s attorney, Sheyl Trehan, showcased receipts confirming that the university fees for Samaira had been settled. The documents revealed that ₹95 lakh per semester had been paid, with the next payment not due until December. This stands in contrast to earlier assertions from Karisma Kapoor’s lawyer, who claimed that two months' of fees remained outstanding for Samaira, currently studying in the United States.

The court briefly addressed the disagreement, with the judge explicitly urging both parties to refrain from unnecessary disputes. Justice Singh remarked that such minor matters should not frequently occupy the court's time.

This fee disagreement is part of a larger contention regarding the estate of Sunjay Kapur. His children with Karisma Kapoor — Samaira and Kiaan — have accused their stepmother Priya Sachdev Kapur of fabricating Sunjay’s will to exclude them from inheritance. Priya’s legal team has refuted these allegations, asserting that it is not uncommon for a husband to bequeath his assets to his wife.

Samaira and Kiaan have also petitioned for an interim order to prevent Priya from selling or altering any of Sunjay’s assets while litigation continues. The court is currently reviewing arguments regarding this application amid the ongoing family feud.
