Actress Kim Chiu has taken legal action against her sister, Lakambini Chiu, filing a qualified theft complaint following the discovery of serious financial irregularities in one of their shared business ventures.
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, Kim, accompanied by her legal team, submitted the complaint at the Quezon City prosecutor’s office. Photos from the filing show her giving a sworn statement inside the Department of Justice building.
In a heartfelt statement, Kim said the decision to file the case was one of the most painful she has ever made. She explained that months of careful review led her to take this step, emphasizing that it was necessary to safeguard not only her business but also the livelihoods of employees connected to it.
Her legal representatives have not released further details regarding the nature of the complaint or the specific business involved.
Tensions between the sisters had become apparent earlier this year, with fans noting that they had unfollowed each other on social media amid rumors of a business disagreement. In 2023, Lakambini had publicly credited Kim for her support during a personal health challenge, highlighting a previous close bond.
