Viewers who missed the theatre rush can plan for an at‑home return to Rishab Shetty’s world: Kantara Chapter 1 will debut on Amazon Prime Video on October 31, arriving less than a month after its October 2 cinema release. Written, directed by and starring Shetty, the film also features Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram, and will be available in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Prime Video set the date with a striking social post that prompted widespread chatter online. The short teaser — tagged #KantaraALegendChapter1OnPrime — offered a glimpse of Berme, Rishab Shetty’s fierce protagonist, rallying his followers and bracing for conflict, teasing the film’s visceral drama and emotional stakes.

The platform’s announcement also sparked questions among fans, many noting the absence of a Hindi version and the rapid move to streaming. Comments ranged from suggestions to dub in Hindi to surprise over the film reaching OTT in just 29 days after its box office opening.

Set against the backdrop of the Kadamba dynasty, Kantara Chapter 1 traces the mythic origins and sacred traditions tied to Panjuluri Daiva, Guliga and Chavundi. Serving as a prequel to the 2022 cult hit Kantara and produced by Hombale Films, the movie delves further into the interplay of faith, nature and folklore that defined its predecessor.

Speaking about the film, Rishab Shetty said the story is firmly rooted in local customs and the land itself, celebrating ritual and the human bond with the natural world. He emphasised that the emotions and ceremonies depicted come from authentic traditions and lived practices.

The film’s commercial run has been extraordinary: Kantara Chapter 1 became the highest‑grossing Indian release of 2025, amassing ₹813 crore worldwide in 25 days and edging past Chhaava’s ₹807 crore. Shetty thanked audiences, noting that the response shows how regional folklore resonates widely across generations.

In an interesting crossover between theatrical and streaming distribution, Kantara Chapter 1 will also receive an English‑language theatrical release globally on October 31, aligning its cinema and OTT rollouts on the same day.

With its rich cultural themes, striking visuals and deeply felt performances, the film is poised to attract a large streaming audience. For those hoping to revisit Berme’s saga from home, October 31 marks the date to settle in and experience the legend anew on Prime Video.
