Rapper Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord, candidly spoke about a challenging period in his life, describing it as “one of the worst moments” of his adulthood: cheating on his wife, Bunnie Xo. Married in 2016, the couple recently celebrated their nine-year anniversary, showing resilience despite past struggles.
Jelly Roll reflected on the affair and its impact on him, saying, “One of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I cheated on my wife. Because it was the first time that I was like, ‘I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.’ It just really, really, really blew me back.”
Despite the betrayal, Jelly Roll emphasized the hard work he put into repairing their relationship. He said he and Bunnie are now stronger than ever, sharing, “I wish our story had gone in the way that it never had an affair, and I’m in way glad it happened, but man, I’m proud of who we are today. I truly am.”
Jelly Roll also attributed some of his past mistakes to his social circle at the time. “I was hanging around with people who were cheating on their wives. When I was doing cocaine, I was hanging around with the people that were doing cocaine,” he explained. “I used to be proud of long-standing friendships just because they had a number attached to them. Horrible humans.” Now, he focuses on being surrounded by people who inspire him to improve.
While he didn’t reveal details of the affair, Bunnie previously alluded to the challenges in their relationship. In a 2018 social media post, she mentioned their brief breakup and reconciliation, saying, “Our castle in the sand had to crumble so we could rebuild it on solid ground.”
The couple’s story reflects a commitment to growth and family. Jelly Roll proposed on stage in 2016, marrying Bunnie the same night in Las Vegas. In 2023, they returned to the chapel to renew their vows, symbolizing their enduring love. Bunnie celebrated their ninth anniversary on Instagram, sharing photos from Germany and writing, “Life is ours, we live it our way 9 years of us.”
