Dubai is fostering a new generation of entrepreneurs with the launch of the Young Trader initiative, coordinated by Brand Dubai and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development as part of the Hatta Festival under the #HattaWinter initiative.
This program is designed to teach children aged 8 to 13 the fundamentals of business in an engaging and hands-on manner, blending education with entertainment. Young Trader encourages children to unleash their creativity, build confidence, and grasp the importance of commercial awareness from an early age.
During the initiative, four child-led business projects were presented, showcasing a variety of concepts and interests that highlight the creativity and innovative mindset of the young entrepreneurs, allowing them to experience real market interactions.
Amina Taher from the #HattaWinter Initiative Organising Committee emphasized the importance of enabling children to explore their potential early on. She noted that Young Trader merges learning with fun, providing a supportive environment for children to gain practical entrepreneurship skills.
Presenting their projects to festival visitors helps children enhance their communication abilities and self-esteem while gaining insight into the operations of businesses beyond classroom learning.
Ahmad Al Room Almheiri, Acting CEO of Dubai SME, highlighted that the initiative aligns with Dubai SME’s overarching mission to promote entrepreneurship and support the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
He stated that Young Trader lays the groundwork for early exposure to entrepreneurship, project management, and public interaction, equipping children with crucial skills for developing future sustainable ventures. The initiative embodies Dubai’s commitment to nurturing creativity, confidence, and real-world skills in younger generations.
The #HattaWinter initiative is implemented by Brand Dubai under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for the Development of Hatta, in collaboration with various government entities, including the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, and Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
These collaborative efforts illustrate Dubai’s dedication to cultivating a rich entrepreneurial culture that begins at a young age, aligning with the emirate’s broader economic vision for the future.
