Hezbollah Warns Israel As Lebanon Ceasefire Holds

Post by : Sophia Matthew

A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is holding for now, offering a brief pause in weeks of intense fighting, though tensions remain high and uncertainty continues over how long the truce will last.

The Iran-backed group has warned that it remains on full alert despite the agreement, stating that its fighters are ready to respond to any potential violations. Hezbollah said it carried out more than 2,100 military operations during the recent conflict and emphasized that it is closely monitoring Israeli actions.

The ceasefire, which is expected to last 10 days, has created cautious optimism in the region. However, concerns persist about whether both sides will fully commit to maintaining peace. Israeli leadership under Benjamin Netanyahu has not clearly indicated how long military operations will remain paused, adding to the uncertainty.

Efforts to stabilize the situation are being supported by the United States, with President Donald Trump assigning senior officials, including Vice President JD Vance, to work toward a longer-term resolution. Diplomatic discussions are ongoing, though a permanent agreement has yet to be reached.

On the ground, displaced civilians have begun returning to their homes in southern Lebanon and parts of Beirut. Many areas, however, have suffered heavy damage, with destroyed infrastructure and unsafe conditions making it difficult for families to fully resettle. Residents have expressed fear that the ceasefire may collapse, forcing them to flee again.

Reports from affected regions indicate that while some people are attempting to rebuild their lives, many remain cautious due to the fragile nature of the truce. The situation remains volatile, with both sides maintaining readiness for further conflict.

The ceasefire is also being viewed as a possible opening for broader diplomatic efforts in the Middle East, particularly in relation to ongoing tensions involving Iran. However, analysts warn that without firm commitments and sustained negotiations, the current pause in fighting may only be temporary.
