The Heartbeat of Humanity film series, produced by the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, has clinched the Documentary award at the 30th Annual Webby Awards, celebrated as one of the internet’s foremost distinctions.
Hailed by The New York Times as the "Internet’s highest honour," the Webby Awards commend exemplary achievements across websites, applications, and social media.
The series celebrated a dual victory, taking home both the Webby Award from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and the Webby People’s Voice Award, determined by public votes. This year, over 4 million votes were registered globally.
It emerged as a frontrunner among over 13,000 contenders and was nominated as one of five finalists in the Documentary category. Notable prior winners include renowned names like National Geographic, Netflix, The Washington Post, and Business Insider.
His Excellency Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the award, remarked that this recognition underscores the pivotal role of storytelling in disseminating humanitarian values worldwide. He emphasized that the series exemplifies the award’s goal of advocating for unity, coexistence, and human fraternity across diverse cultures.
The films were brought to life by the Abu Dhabi-based creative collective, People, highlighting the impactful work of the award’s 2025 and 2026 honourees.
Among those featured are Mia Amor Mottley, World Central Kitchen, innovative youth figure Heman Bekele, the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace accord, Taawon, and Afghan educational advocate Zarqa Yaftali.
Tim Elliott, CEO of People, expressed that this honour reflects both industry acknowledgment and a deep connection with audiences worldwide. He noted that the team devoted themselves to present these narratives with authenticity and respect.
The award ceremony will occur in New York City on 11 May 2026. Established in 1996, the Webby Awards are conferred by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, consisting of over 3,000 preeminent figures in the digital realm.
