Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan, known for hits like Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, and Tees Maar Khan, has opened a fresh creative chapter on YouTube after stepping away from directing for 11 years.
Farah began posting in April 2024 with casual cooking vlogs featuring herself and her cook, Dilip. The warm, kitchen-centred episodes quickly found an audience — her channel climbed to nearly 3 million subscribers while her Instagram tally rose to about 4.5 million.
On a recent appearance on Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, Farah, 60, explained why she took up YouTube. She recalled deciding, “Even when my movie was not happening, when I wasn’t directing, I said chal (come on), let me do YouTube,” and noted the practical side of the move: her 17-year-old triplets Czar, Anya and Diva will attend university next year, which she wryly described as very costly. What began as “a lark” became an idea that resonated widely.
Farah also reflected on the satisfaction she derives from work and creative independence. “Your life can’t revolve around another person. I feel happiness has to come from within and from your work. Work actually gives me a lot of pleasure,” she said, adding that she can envisage working into her 80s because her craft isn’t tied to looks or physicality.
The forthcoming episode of Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, which also features actor Ananya Panday, will be available on Prime Video at midnight on Thursday.
