Emirates and Air Canada have announced a pivotal extension of their partnership, now set to last until December 31, 2032. This renewal comes just three years after they began collaborating, during which time over 550,000 passengers have benefited from their integrated network.
The new agreement is designed to enhance passenger travel options, broaden cargo collaborations, and explore new gateways across Canada—representing one of the most noteworthy partnerships between airlines on a global scale.
Since 2022, the codeshare partnership has expanded to cover 56 routes, connecting travelers from Canada, the U.S., Dubai, and numerous international destinations. Emirates passengers are now able to reach 37 cities in Canada and the U.S., while Air Canada utilizes its code on 19 Emirates flights that cover regions like the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Additionally, the interline agreement grants access to an extensive network of over 225 destinations worldwide.
Daily flights are crucial to this alliance. Air Canada continues to operate a daily service utilizing the Boeing 787 Dreamliner between Toronto and Dubai, while Emirates maintains a daily A380 flight to Toronto and seven weekly flights to Montréal on the Boeing 777. Their partnership has been further enhanced by Air Canada's transition to Dubai International Airport's Terminal 3, allowing for easy transfers for passengers.
Cargo services are expected to significantly improve as well. The two airlines are considering a joint venture focused on cargo, aimed at accelerating global logistics as trade between Canada and the UAE surges. Canadian exports hit CAD $3.3 billion in 2024, up 17% from 2023, with shipments via Emirates aircraft soaring by 37% year over year.
The renewed partnership promises improved loyalty programs, expanded options for Premium Economy redemptions, and plans for joint operations at Dubai World Central post-2032. This initiative reflects the escalating demand for stronger air connections spanning Canada, the Americas, the Middle East, and the broader Asia region, which are vital to millions of travelers and businesses alike.
