Progressive-metal veterans Dream Theater will perform in Dubai in a concert that marks four decades of the band’s journey. The reunited classic lineup — vocalist James LaBrie, guitarist John Petrucci, bassist John Myung, keyboardist Jordan Rudess, and drummer Mike Portnoy — are slated to play an extended three-hour show, including a special interlude that highlights the precision and musical imagination that define their work.
Across more than 40 years on stage and in the studio, Dream Theater have earned three Grammy nominations, taken home the 2022 Grammy for Best Metal Performance, and sold in excess of 15 million records worldwide. Their layered arrangements and technical prowess have built a loyal and international audience.
The Dubai date coincides with the arrival of their sixteenth studio album, Parasomnia — the first full release featuring this ensemble since 2009’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings. The 71-minute record includes standout cuts such as Night Terror, A Broken Man, Dead Asleep, and the sprawling 19-minute finale The Shadow Man Incident.
Guitarist John Petrucci said he was thrilled to be heading back to Dubai: “We’re coming to celebrate 40 years, share our new album Parasomnia, and honour the return of our brother Mike Portnoy. It promises to be an unforgettable evening of music, and we can’t wait to reconnect with fans in the region.”
Tickets go on pre-sale on November 7 at 8:30 am, with the general sale starting November 10 at 8:30 am. Prices begin at AED 225 and go up to AED 575. Dream Theater last played in Dubai in October 2017 during their 25th-anniversary tour, and fans can expect another memorable night of progressive metal.
