DP World has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al Dahra Holding to unlock strategic initiatives targeting food security and enhancing agri-logistics across the GCC and beyond.
This collaboration is part of broader regional endeavors to establish robust and resilient food supply chains throughout the Gulf area. Given that the UAE relies on imports for nearly 85–90% of its food needs, the agreement underscores the critical demand for dependable and efficient supply chain infrastructures essential for sustaining long-term food security.
The partnership will facilitate the development of comprehensive supply chain innovations for the transport, storage, and distribution of food and agricultural goods. DP World’s extensive global logistics capabilities will be complemented by Al Dahra’s know-how in agricultural production, sourcing, and procurement.
Additionally, both firms aim to explore the establishment of specialized logistics and port facilities to enhance the process of importing, storing, processing, and distributing food items across the GCC. A focus will also be placed on expanding cold chain and warehouse solutions dedicated to perishable products, such as fresh produce, grains, and processed foods.
As part of this collaboration, DP World and Al Dahra will assess joint investment prospects in logistics centers, free zone operations, and agri-food processing facilities, especially within Abu Dhabi and other key markets in the GCC.
The partnership will further investigate avenues to optimize global sourcing routes spanning Africa, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Americas, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and stability of food supply chains.
Technology-centric logistics solutions will also be explored, including digital platforms, traceability systems, and smart logistics tools, to bolster operational efficiency, transparency, and resilience within the supply chain.
Moreover, the partnership aims for improved coordination around food safety protocols, customs processes, and regulatory practices to facilitate smoother international trade.
Yuvraj Narayan, Group CEO of DP World, stated that this collaboration signifies the company’s dedication to cultivating resilient and sustainable global supply chains while reinforcing food security and economic growth.
Meanwhile, Arnoud van den Berg, Group CEO of Al Dahra, highlighted that this partnership will enhance the company’s efficiency in sourcing, moving, and distributing vital food products across the GCC and worldwide markets.
