The trailer for Aditya Dhar’s highly anticipated film Dhurandhar has ignited strong reactions among fans. This spy action thriller promises adrenaline-pumping sequences, but its depiction of violence has raised eyebrows. Unveiled recently, the trailer features distressing content showcasing scenes of bloodshed and torture, illustrating the grim realities of espionage and crime. While a segment of viewers appreciates the gripping nature of the trailer, not everyone shares that enthusiasm.

Political commentator and content creator Dhruv Rathee has expressed his condemnation of the trailer, criticizing director Aditya Dhar for the excessive and gratuitous violence portrayed. Following the trailer’s debut, Rathee took to social media, asserting, “Aditya Dhar has truly crossed a limit of cheapness in Bollywood. The extreme violence, gore and torture shown in his latest film trailer is akin to watching ISIS beheadings and labeling it ‘entertainment’.”

Adding to his remarks, he stated, “His greed for profit is so extreme that he is ruining the psyche of the younger audiences, normalizing the grotesque and glorifying unspeakable torture.” He urged the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) to take note, asking, “Will the Censor Board prioritize concerns over intimacy rather than extreme violence and torture?”

The film Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy in Pakistan, alongside Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan in key roles. The trailer features several startling moments that have fueled discussions online, including a scene where Arjun Rampal’s character, an ISI Major, skins an individual alive, and another where Akshaye Khanna’s character beats a man to death with a rock.

Despite Rathee's strong criticism, many fans remain unperturbed by the graphic content. Reactions on social media have emphasized the movie’s dark aura, thrilling action, and soundtrack. One viewer commented, “The energy, the darkness, the atmosphere… it feels like Shashwat just opened a new chapter in Indian music.” Another supporter called on the CBFC to permit audiences to experience the full vision of the film, tweeting, “What we see in the trailer should absolutely be reflected on screen. NO CUTS, NO BLURS.”

The grand launch event for the Dhurandhar trailer was held at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai, featuring appearances from director Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh, and additional cast members. Scheduled for release on December 5, Dhurandhar is poised to spark considerable conversation around cinematic brutality, censorship, and audience expectations.
