The 15th General Assembly of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) wrapped up in Jeddah after five days of significant discussions organized by Saudi Arabia through the General Court of Audit (GCA). Representatives from audit agencies across 22 Arab nations, alongside regional and international experts, actively participated in the event. Major resolutions were adopted during the assembly to enhance governance, boost efficiency, and aid the development of audit entities within the member states. A highlight was the reaffirmation of Saudi Arabia’s second term as Chair of the Governing Board, which enables the Kingdom to host ARABOSAI meetings until 2028. These initiatives are anticipated to elevate the standard of audit practices and amplify their beneficial impacts in the region.
The assembly also included the 69th and 70th Governing Board meetings, where members assessed the advancements on ARABOSAI’s strategic plan. Various committees presented their reports, resulting in critical decisions aimed at supporting future initiatives and projects. A technical symposium complemented the meetings, featuring best practices in capacity building and sharing real-life experiences from different Arab audit institutions. Discussions centered around enhancing training programs, elevating professional skills, and ensuring improved performance within national audit agencies.
A key moment of the event was the delivery of the Peer Review Report by GCA President Dr. Hussam Alangari to the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan. The report evaluated the chamber’s adherence to international audit standards, highlighting ongoing efforts to encourage transparency and uphold high-quality audit practices. The assembly also celebrated the graduation of 20 auditors from the Certified Arab Auditor Fellowship Program, a crucial initiative by the GCA aimed at training proficient professionals in the auditing sector.
As the meetings closed, discussions emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration among Arab Supreme Audit Institutions and enhance the exchange of expertise. Members underscored the necessity of translating all recommendations and insights into actionable measures that foster improved governance, transparency, and robust institutional performance across the Arab region. With a renewed commitment from member states, ARABOSAI aspires to elevate auditing standards and improve the efficacy of oversight efforts in the years to come.
