Amruta Fadnavis, spouse of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, recently opened up about facing online trolling regarding her attire. She shared her thoughts in an interview on Curly Tales’ YouTube channel on November 9, following criticism over her clothing choices during a beach cleanup in Mumbai.
The cleanup initiative occurred at Juhu Beach post-Ganesh Visarjan festival, titled Sea Shore Shine 2025, with a goal of clearing waste and fostering awareness about beach cleanliness. Amruta participated alongside actor Akshay Kumar, volunteers, and various environmental organizations.
Rather than commend the cleaning efforts, numerous social media users fixated on her outfit. She donned a beige fitted co-ord ensemble that sparked remarks, some labeling it as too snug and gym-like for the occasion. The focus on her appearance overshadowed the essence of her contribution.
Responding to the backlash, Amruta acknowledged previous experiences with trolling, noting that it sometimes affected her. However, her disappointment stemmed not from the outfit critiques but from the diversion of attention away from the cause she championed. She stressed that the event's significance lay in raising consciousness about waste and pollution, and she exerted effort alongside others to render it impactful.
Amruta shared her belief that actions hold greater weight than looks, urging the public to recognize the efforts made for the cause. Although the comments initially troubled her, she resolved to remain dedicated and continue her advocacy work without losing heart.
She emphasized that while criticism is inevitable, unwavering commitment to one's objectives is paramount. Amruta believes that dedication will resonate louder than any unfounded negativity encountered online.
This scenario mirrors a broader discussion about how public figures, particularly women, are often scrutinized for their appearance rather than their contributions. Amruta’s insights underline the importance of valuing authentic efforts aimed at social change over superficial judgments.
